As educators, we are to teach academics to our students so they can successfully follow a career path. As Christian educators, we are to talk about God throughout the classroom lessons, read his Word to our students daily, share with our students what we have learned from God's Word, and pray fervently for the spiritual lives of our students.
Thanks for this potent reminder! I think that as teachers we should not only pray for our students but pray with our students. By taking a minute every day before opening prayer we can systematically teach our children the importance, value, necessity, and commands to pray. Then, we model prayer as we pray for our students with them.
ReplyDeletePraying for students is like praying for your own kids. It's a relentless activity accompanied by a burden for their spirituality. I agree with Maggie that we should also pray with them. Modeling a walk with God makes a lasting impact on their lives.
ReplyDeleteWe often take our students successes on our shoulders, bearing the weight alone. This leads to fear, frustration, anger and disappointment. But we are to cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us (and our students). We fail to pray in many areas because we are so self sufficient. But we can't afford this for our sakes and their sakes. God is our only hope for all things!
ReplyDeleteA teacher has a tremendous impact on their students. Everything they say and do is watched and imitated: the good, bad, and ugly. An educator must first rely on God for their strength. Only by drawing from this wealth of power, can they model Christlikeness. While not in a classroom, it was a blessing to see Miss Haines' relationship with her God clearly seen as she served at a summer camp this past summer. Everything we do should ultimately bring glory to our Creator.
